About us

We build software for a moment in which software must not draw attention to itself

Velorio is being built in Bern, together with a funeral service that opened its processes to us. What you see here came out of real cases.

Why we are doing this

The funeral trade is among the least digitised industries in Switzerland. Not out of negligence, but because almost nobody builds software for this field — it is small, it is sensitive, and it demands an understanding of processes that cannot be learned from a manual.

At the same time the number of deaths is rising for demographic reasons. Businesses do not have more time; they have less. And in that particular week, families have the least strength for forms.

Velorio takes administration off the business so that more time remains for accompanying people. That is the whole idea.

What we hold to

Dignity before function

If a feature offends the dignity of the occasion, it is made quieter or left out.

From practice, not from assumption

Every business rule in Velorio has a source: a conversation, a form, a decision. We do not invent processes.

Swiss by design

Cantonal differences, notifications to municipalities, crematoria, trade standards — these are not an add-on, they are the core.
